Sharon Ogunleye is a multimedia journalist with more than 15 years of experience across print, online, and television platforms. Currently, she works as a Programme Editor at TRT World, where she helps shape the news coverage of the Istanbul-based channel. Her role involves leading teams of producers, coordinating with on-air talent and correspondents, and delivering compelling and original programming.
Before joining TRT World, she was the Chief Producer at Reuters Television in Nigeria. For over six years, she managed a team of reporters across the West African nation, building a strong network of sources and client connections that bolstered Reuters’ presence in one of Africa’s largest economies. Navigating complex logistical challenges and official roadblocks, she ensured stories were delivered with accuracy and impact.
Throughout her career, she has reported on diverse issues and produced stories that resonate deeply. One of her most impactful works was a feature on slum demolitions in Lagos, which brought attention to the plight of displaced communities. During the Ebola outbreak in Nigeria, she interviewed a survivor, shedding light on the crisis.
She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Multimedia Journalism from Pan-Atlantic University, where she was awarded Best Graduating Student in 2015, and a degree in Mass Communication from Delta State University. In 2015, she was honored as one of Nigeria’s “50 Women Changing Journalism” by Women in Journalism.
Storytelling is her passion, and she is driven by the power of journalism to connect people and inspire change.
